Founded by Sarah Friar, Ladies Who Launch is a non profit organization set up to provide Inspiration, Education and Community for women who wish to or have already launched their own businesses. LWL hosts events in the US and UK with keynote speakers from the business and entrepreneurial worlds. They needed a clear identity to replace various ad hoc identities that were created for individual events. Click hereto see the main LWL event page. 

For inspiration I looked at logos for Women in Tech organizations:

Concept 2: Rockets
The Ls are reversed to provide a frame around the 'W' to emphasize Women being the center of this organization. The two diagonal lines of the 'W' (known as the rockets internally) are launching themselves away from the rest of the lettering as a metaphor for the breaking away from the normal working world that being an entrepreneur entails.

This was the color chosen with green to represent hope and gold is to represent wealth and prosperity.
